ONCE UPON A TIME…
It is said that the grim Longobard king Agilulfo, husband of Teodolinda, before converting to Christianity, wanted to invite to the banquet the bishop San Colombano on Good Friday Day.
The lunch which was served wasmeat-based and made up of “colombe” (dove). The saint was very confused, he would have wanted to respect the Christian precept of not eatingmeat on Fridays and, at the same time, he didn’t want to offend the shorttempered king.
With God’s help, the miracle occurred: all of a suddenall colombe became alive and took flight.
THE MIRACLE SO TOUCHED AGILULFO WHO, ON EASTER DAY, PACKED AND OFFERED TO EVERYONE BIG COLOMBE OF BREAD.
